Synopsis: From beyond the grave, a man tells the story of how he met his end. In his final moments, he had been seduced by a mysterious lady he met in the woods. Once she had her way with him, she lulled him to sleep, only for him to wake up and discover his fate. Literally, “the beautiful lady without mercy.” The subject of the poem is a sort of femme fatale fairy (quite the alliteration) who seduces and ultimately leads a knight to his death.
